After retiring from the Army, Mike Maginn did a little part-time guiding before getting involved in restaurant management. After a couple of years Col. Mike decided to take the plunge (we hope not literally too often) retiring from food service to return to his first love — being a full time guide.

In 2005, a passion for working with newcomers to the sport led Mike to procure the insurance and permitting necessary to open his new company, Blue Ridge Fly Fishing Guides. A lifelong member of Trout Unlimited, Mike is considered to be the subject matter expert of the Upper Toccoa River. In addition to guiding for fly fishing, Mike guides canoe and kayak trips. He can provide all equipment for any of these outings.
